How Do Tonsilloliths Affect Me?
Tonsilloliths or tonsil stones can not do any harm to your
body.Your tonsils may become a bit inflamed as a result of having them as the body's natural defence mechanism
tries to expell them.
The throat might also feel a bit tight, especially if the stone is larger than normal. In some
instances you will also have a metallic taste in your mouth. This can often be a sign that you have stones lodged in
the crypts.
To thouroughly remove them you would have to resort to a few unconventional methods that cause
some discomfort.
Home methods that can be used include, brushing the tonsils with a cotton bud dipped in
water to dislodge it,oral irrigation or using a medicine dropper to try and suck it up.
All of the methods mentioned above will cause the sufferer to gag as the devices have to
be inserted far into the throat to be effective.
By generally using a nasal spray and oxegynating spray or rinse you can get the stones to
dissappear without scratching around the back of the throat.

Having the tonsils surgically removed is taking it to the extreme, but the option is there.Chat to
your doctor about any concerns you may have.
Remember the older you are, the more risky the surgery becomes and the recovery period will
generally take longer as well.
Tonsilloliths can come back once you have removed them from the tonsils. Some advice would be to cut
back on your use of dairy products as they are known to increase mucus production by the sinus glands.Mucus is a
key ingredient in the formation of tonsil stones.
